Maranta Leuconeura Plant

The Maranrta Leuconeura Plant shines its beauty with decorative leaves. Deep green velvety leaves with yellow splotches down the midrib and arching red veins running to the leaf edges define the renowned multicolour variety. This type of slower-growing plant can reach up to 1 foot long indoors. They are commonly known as Maranta Green, Rabbit’s Foot, Prayer Plant. The fact of this plant name comes from its leaves, during the daytime they look like flat and fold up like praying hands at night. Mainly Maranta Leuconeura Plant native to Brazil.

How to Care Maranta Green

Prayer Plant thrives in greenhouse-like circumstances, with lots of fertilizer and warm, humid, mild airflow. Try to hang or set your Maranrta beside the window where the indirect sunlight shines. Never set your plant direct light that burns the leaf foliage and fades the colour.  A traditional potting mix works fine for this if it is well-draining.

Allow half of the topsoil to dry out before watering but be careful that the potting soil is not completely dried out. You can water frequently when the growing season comes. Marantas are susceptible to harsh water. Before using, try using filtered water or letting the water sit out overnight.

Temperatures between 60 and 80 Fahrenheit are ideal for Prayer plants. Normal room humidity is good, but if feasible, it loves higher humidity. It will give you a better result if you fertilize your prayer plant every two weeks from early spring to late fall (once a month in winter) using a half-strength water-soluble houseplant fertilizer.

Propagating Prayer Plants

  • Confirm that each new plant has a healthy root system and many stems
  • Try to pot these new tiny plants individually in shallow pots
  • During the first several weeks, keep fresh divisions warm and moist until new growth begins

Toxicity

The Maranta Green is safe for pets, it is non-toxic to animals.
